Ikariam CR Converter

I have used the Ikariam CR Converter for Greasemonkey on firefox for a while now, but I just heard it may "Crash the server and steal your information" Is this argument legit? I have seen how many people use the converter, so I doubt it has such major issues with it. My question is has Greasemonkey done this before, and if it has, was it because of an add-on? Thanks.

It is/was legit. Many players got hacked or their towns bugged and all of them had the script. However, I think the virus has been fixed now. Not sure. They used to make it a big deal and now I don't see it anywhere, so I think it may have been fixed.

Over the 2+ years I played Ikariam, that has never happened before, at the best of my memory. It was a first for me.

I'm not sure most people use the Greasemonkey CR Converter now though. Most CRs I've seen are the ones from the Web Version. It is free, no download, works perfectly, and really easy to use. Here is the link to it, check it out: http://tools.betawarriors.com/ikcrc/

However, if you would like to be completely sure that the Greasemonkey is safe, you should PM a Game Operator and ask them.

Thanks bro. Ill test out that version instead. Much easier to do than download. I have also played over 2 years now, and this is the first ive ever heard of something like this. Ill PM a GO today.
EDIT: I just tested the web converter out, it takes more time than the in-game download, but if it is safer its definitely worth it! Ill try sending it in messages. So far i like it, much less of a hassle to get started with.

you could PM a GO but they will just tell you that all scripts are now completely a "use at your own risk" status.

I'm really surprised you missed the trouble with the scripts a few months ago, there was a Banner announcement on the boards, several threads about it and a few Global messages sent in-game. Basically what happened is someone hacked the CR converter script and used it to hack accounts deleting towns. The problem should be fixed now but as I said, officially GF and .com staff can not guarantee the safety of any scripts. this is why the "Approved scripts" forum was removed so there was no confusion that GF guaranteed safety.

The guy who writes the script has updated it a couple of times since the hack, the source code in the script that was hacked has been replaced, personally I'm comfortable using the ingame script again for the converter. But like Rattus says, it's at your own risk these days.
